OCEAN WATER PUNCH

Recipe:

In a mixing glass, pour:

• 1 ½ ounces Tanqueray No. 10 gin
• ½ ounce blue curaçao
• ½ ounce lime juice
• 1 ¼ ounces pineapple juice
• ¼ ounce coconut-washed, overproof Jamaican rum
• 1 ½ ounces whole milk

Add ice and stir. Begin building your garnish by setting a base of rock candy. Gradually pour the drink as you add other features such as ice spheres and herbs as ocean-like plants. Finally, add a sea star to complete the look.

What inspired this garnish?
Living here in the mountains, we are blessed with an abundance of gorgeous vistas and peaks. But one thing we are definitely missing is the ocean. Luckily for us, though, we have an incredible aquarium here and can explore the mysterious underwater world of our oceans. That mystique, beauty, and awe that I get when I visit our aquarium is the inspiration behind my garnish. It takes the essence of the crystal-clear waters of our ocean and distills it down into your own miniature aquarium that is a fascinating counterpoint to our mountainous city.

What’s the inspiration behind this cocktail?
The inspiration behind the drink itself are all the tropical flavors that come to mind when I think of lush, crystal-clear waters. Its flavors invoke standing on the beach staring into the vast blue horizon. And because it is a clarified milk punch, the cocktail is just as clear as the gorgeous waters it is reminiscent of.
